White Chocolate Mousse and Strawberry

Today I made Strawberry Cream roll, yes again . I like cream roll, the texture is so soft and light. Filled with white chocolate mousse, it tastes better if you put it in the fridge. The cream gets really cold and refreshing just like ice cream. Great for summer weather with a glass of chilled lemonade and a good book to read.

I was very fortunate to attend Alan Dunn's workshops. He is a world leading sugarcrafter in making flowers, his flowers are so lifelike and delicate looking. He is such a wonderful guy in real life, very humble, patient and of course very talented in his skill. I enjoyed myself thoroughly and I will be going for more of his workshops in the future. Because Alan has written so many books on sugarflowers, I am not sure which book the Anthurium is in. Here are some of Alan's books, have a click on them to view the contents of each book.

Lemon Curd Cheesecake

The base is made with crushed ginger biscuits, the top is lemon curd, which is homemade with real lemon juice and zest. No artificial but if you don't want to make the curd yourself or you are pressing for time, store bought lemon curd is always and easily available. It is worth to get the good quality one tho.

Handmade Soap for the Skin

These soaps are so good, full of Olive oil, infact about 90% of Olive oil. Luxury for the skin.How wonderful.

I can never get enough of quiche, and these one are made with gruyere cheese, it tasted so much better.

Easter Eggs Cupcakes

Made the easter egg cupcakes for the children and the neighbour. It was chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with vanilla frosting coloured in green and yellow colour, top with chocolate easter eggs. The flowers are handmade

The cupcakes were a choclately going away present made for a friend.  There's a rocky road, chocolate glaze and chocolate fondant.  I took the opportunity to road test a couple of recipes I hadn't tried beore.  Think the results are pretty good, though practice makes perfect.

Creamy Peanut Buttercream Cupcakes

I have been wanting to try making peanut buttercream cupcakes. Peanut butter is definitely one of my favourite and this frosting is to die for, it was smooth and creamy. Made in Heaven.

Daisy sugarflowers

Made this Daisy, it was very easy to make. The basket weave was made of sugarpaste. Like the blue and white, very bright contrast.

Strawberry Cream Roll

Soft chiffon roll with special cream and fresh strawberry. Flakes almonds on the sides. Serve on a vintage plates, I love collecting all these vintage looking plates.

Heart shaped Cake

My first time attempting to carve a cake into a heart shaped. Get to learn from Lindy Smith herself. It was really interesting even though it didn't look anything like Lindy's -Flora lHeart cake . Well, there is always the first time to everything right?

I don't really like the recipe of this cake. It was Medeira which I find it rather heavy and dense. Also, it has to be baked inside the oven for quite some time. The cake is supposed to be densed as apposed to light, soft and fluffy; this is for the purpose of easy carving.

I will have to tweak the recipe or find another good cake recipe such as sponge cake or anything but madeira for carving in the future.

Making sugar Roses the first time

The basket was hand piped with royal icing. Sugar roses were handmade.

Ethan's Birthday cupcakes

Made these simple but delicious cupcakes for Ethan. He kept asking me to make him cupcakes way before his birthday. They were chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with rose water icing and chocolate buttercream

Gave a pack of cupcakes to the neighbour and made some chocolates ones for his classmates
